Williams Ordinary, Dumfries, VA
This eighteenth century building, known in colonial times as Williams Ordinary, went by later names of Love’s Tavern, Stage Coach Inn, and Old Hotel. The structure is architecturally significant, as it appears to be the only remaining Virginia building with a front wall laid in all-header bond. Aquia trim can be seen on the quoins and doorway. It is suggested that perhaps the structure was built around 1765 by James Wren, based on architectural similarities between Christ Church in Alexandria and this structure.
