Stafford African American History Tour

Discover Stafford’s African American History

The Stafford County African American History (SAAHT) driving tour was created by Discover Stafford and the African American Heritage Advisory Committee
working with UMW Geography Department, to highlight the stories about the deep history of the Black population in Stafford County.

Over 20 locations and countless stories that showcase the strength and resilience of the African American community over a span of 300 years in Stafford County.

You can follow the route by areas of Stafford County (Falmouth, South Stafford, and North Stafford)
or you can focus on one of our themes (Faith and Education, Entrepreneurship and Work, and Journey to Freedom).
